Join us on Friday, December 1 for the 2023 Apple Symposium at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History. We are fortunate to have many of our previous speakers in attendance this year. This year we are excited to host two unique opportunities. Have you ever wanted to learn how to use the shape and characteristics of the apple fruit to identify the cultivar? This is called phenotyping and is a very important part of the identification process! From 1-2:30 pm we will have an apple phenotyping workshop with John Bunker and members of the Historic Fruit Tree Working Group of North America in the Bio Lounge. Space is limited for this activity so be sure to register early to secure your spot!
Our second event of the day (3-6pm) is the symposium featuring guest speaker Dan Bussey, author of The Illustrated History of Apples in the US and Canada in the Paleo Hall and student research posters in the Tree Space. The talk will be available via zoom for folks unable to attend in person. We will also have a Padlet link available featuring the student posters.
Metered parking is available at the CASE building and can be pre-purchased online. Please note, building construction is occurring next to the CU Museum of Natural History and the museum is open during campus construction.
